AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, based on 2 Timothy 2:15. For more than 50 years, Awana Clubs International (www.Awana.org) has reached preschoolers through high school students with the gospel of Christ, training them to serve him.

With the beginning of Awana Club Sept. 3, 2009, Nassau Bay Baptist Church will begin its 12th year of serving the Bay Area with the same goal. Children who will be 3 years old through those beginning 6th grade as of Sept. 1 are welcome to join the fun! Club meets Wednesdays, 6-8 p.m. through the school year.

Walk-in registration is Wednesday, Aug. 27, 6-8 p.m., but families can register their children any Wednesday evening. Forms are available on line or can be picked up at the NBBC office during regular business hours. The NBBC Awana Club Calendar will also be available on line prior to Aug. 27.

Awana Club at NBBC is divided into three Clubs - Cubbies, Sparks, Truth and Training. Using the public school standard for age/grade, clubbers are grouped as follows: Cubbies, 3-5 years old; Sparks, kindergarten - 2nd grade; and Truth and Training (T&T) 3rd - 6th grade. Club participation is not dependent on any church affiliation and membership or attendance at NBBC is not required to join the NBBC AWANA Clubs. All are welcome!

Each Wednesday Clubbers enjoy an evening of games, handbook time, and council time all with the goal of teaching Biblical truths and the love of Christ. Scripture memorization is at the heart of Awana Club (Psalm 119:11). Special activities are scheduled throughout the Club year for each club group, only adding to the fun of being a part of Awanas.

There are fees associated with membership in Awana Club - handbook, uniforms, and dues (optional). But we do not want ability to pay be a hindrance to joining Awanas. Scholarships are available. Speak to an Awana Club commander for details.
